Russian Sheshok

These cute little fellows are always full of some such fun mischief...
...should your blankie be found on the floor upon waking in the morn', a sheshok had fun tugging on it while you dreamed sweetly, or,
...should you discover crumbs on your supper table that you are sure you carefully washed prior to bedding in for the night, yep-your sheshok help himself to a tasty midnight snack, or,
...where or where has my other sock gone o' where o' where can it be, surely I might add that it has been turned into a comfortable bed for the wee-little-one and good luck ever finding it!

These sweet fellows love children and kitty cats best and ONLY come out at night...
...should you be fortunate enough to have one take up abode in your home, he will be with you for life,
...so, enjoy and remember that he if full of fun such mischief and does love goodies from time to time to fill his tummy!
Will you ever catch him or even just a glimpse...very few have ever been this fortunate although if you have a kitty, he can tell you all you want to know :)

How big are these you might ask? My creations pictured here are full-sized Sheshoks accompanied by a winter fairy overseeing the care of this lot of seasonal sheshok, wee pumpkins, and darling mice with acorns for munching in their little baskets.

Some dear individuals are receiving these creations I crafted including some hedgies not pictured but similar found on my flikr site and go here to see hedgies, I sincerely hope you all enjoy my gifts for Christmas cheer! Some of my best from me to you.

A Client...Oh My!

Our liebchen, Seraphima, had her first client. Here's the scoop...When she and our other liebchens made a fairy pouch for Missy's Fairy Pouch Swap, one of her participant's, Kat, asked Missy about the rabbit, hedgie, and other items sewn on our pouch...well, one thing led to another and Kat placed an order with Seraphima: five inch owl, five inch rabbit, three inch hedgie all to scale. Seraphima worked and worked finding time around her schooling to needlefelt these cuties. She decided she wanted to send an extra gift or two to say thank you for the order, hence the felted acorns and a sweet thank you note. She tagged the items with little stories for each critter, wrapped them carefully in tissue paper and packed them with love...she had a hard time parting with them...she is hopeful Kat loves them!! By the way Kat, what are you going to use them for? :)

Rabbit found a carrot and turned to look at hedgie because she did not want to share her carrot...
Owl stares into the night...
Hedgie sniffs Rabbit's carrot hoping for a nibble...

Easter Take Two

The Lord's gift to all of us, opening up the gates of heaven after the curse of damnation that befell Adam and Eve onto all mankind and trampling upon this death, must be proclaimed to the whole world. It is beyond all riches and fancies of this world, His gift, thank you Father!

These darling pieces of history represent such a beauty that transcends from the Easter holiday...
Bell ringing to alert all believers-these rings are heard in heaven and earth simultaneously with God's approval...the rings from bells of church holidays and liturgies of today and yesteryear, literally from this past Easter as well as from hundreds and hundreds of years ago, can still be heard by saints today and were heard by saints from the past. All sounds whether from beautiful sources such as church bells, Pavarotti, children laughing, birds chirping, soft Spring rain falling and the like or from not so attractive sources such as tractors, cars, construction, television and on and on and on never go away...EVER...this is why it is so very important to plow fields by horse and plow, ride a bike or walk, sweep leaves instead of using a leaf blower, read well written stories to children instead of turning on the television and on and on and on...not only oil rig spills off the coast of Mexico affect life negatively but unnecessary noises too!

Christ Is Risen! Christ Is Risen! Christ Is Risen! Truly He Is Risen! Truly He Is Risen! Truly He Is Risen!
Those family kept secret recipes for Pascha bread and naturally colored eggs...

And should there be any doubt as to who delivers those pretty colored eggs into children's baskets on Easter morn'...

Christ Is Risen!...Truly He Is Risen!

The photo above was taken in my garden today. It is one of our apricot trees beginning to blossom forth on this precious Easter Sunday! We never have apricots due to our high altitude but we are blessed with amazingly fragrant blossoms beauty to smell and see, if we do not get a late freeze which can happen, just ask the various honey bees and bumble bees that visit here for tasty treats...they'll tell ya'.

The writing on this photo is church Slavonic, an ancient worship language which does not have any profane words nor can any be devised; a splendid language to praise our God, and means- Christ Is Risen!...Truly Christ Is Risen! We proclaim this saying to the entire world for the fifty days of Easter.

Easter for both the Julian calendar and Gregorian calendar is celebrated today, Sunday, the fourth of April, 2010. It is an early Easter for the Julian calendar. The Julian calendar is the old calendar and comes from the time of Julius Caesar. The Gregorian calendar is the newer calendar and comes from the time of Pope Gregory. We celebrate according to the Julian calendar, so our Easter is based on the calculations of the jewish passover and the phases of the moon. Therefore, we do not always celebrate Easter when those who follow the Gregorian calendar do and vice versa. In addition, our Easter, the Big Easter, lasts for fifty days and every Sunday of the year is a small Easter! How wonderful to remember the biggest gift, Jesus Christ's resurrection so His chosen can spend eternity in His heavenly mansions, all year for the small Easters and fifty days straight for the Big Easter.

Our traditions for Easter are many. We bake Pascha bread, which is a SERIOUS tradition, and every family has its secret recipe passed down through the generations. It takes hours to make this cylinder sweet bread but the aroma, flavor, and tradition far out way the time invested. Paschas vary and often the best cooks are quite sought after to make the Paschas for the clergy.

Fresh laid eggs boiled in onionskins and often touches of family secrets produce the tastiest boiled eggs with gorgeous hues of reds, oranges, browns, purples, and dark blues.
Staying up until midnight is a must on Saturday night so we can shout for joy at midnight- Christ Is Risen. Often times this happens at churches where parishioners take lovely baskets filled with Paschas, meat, cheeses, eggs and other de
lectables to be blessed for Easter feasts.

A Tribute To Swapping

Oh, yes, I love swapping but my husband is a bit confused by all of the excitement...you know men-they were created different than we women and thank God for this-and thus they really do not always get into girly things...anyway...

I recently joined a Children's Play Kitchen Swap and realized that it was high time for our children to have a play kitchen to go with the kitchen swap goodies...you guessed it-time for hubby's intervention (tee hee)-so, yes, he agreed, after some soft batting of long, dark eyelashes and some sweet kisses, to build a play kitchen provided that the children helped him and decorated it...yippee...what a grand job they all did-just look...a during the process photo and a finished product photo...just as cute as a little bug's ear! ;)

And this photo is a tribute to the Easter basket swap from Bits of Goodness...just look what tumbled out of our pretty basket that the fairies made for expectant, precious children on Easter morn'...

And this photo is a tribute to the Spring Nature Table swap from Bits of Goodness...a tisket a tasket pretty, Spring baskets and sweet birdie nests too all made with love from me to you...

And this photo shows off some of my angels each gently holding the fairy goody bags and the large fairy pouch that we sent to Missy for her Children's Fairy Swap...we truly hope the precious children who receive these items will enjoy for seasons to come...our best to you!!

Thirst Quenching Adventure

Have you ever had a true thirst quencher? What is pure, fresh, without neuro-toxins such as flouride, chlorine, drugs and chemicals of various kinds?Have you ever tasted Rocky Mountain spring water?

Watch out...POW...we will getcha with turbo snowballs

And, oh, please excuse the snow fairies, those little bursts of light in these pictures, they do tend to follow us about our enchanted forest giving us kisses on our cold, pink cheeks in order to warm us...quite delightful!

Of course, one of my snow angels is helping papa to gather this precious liquid while being daintily surrounded by loving snow fairies that are all the while glittering and twinkling and kissing and singing a merry, frosty tune.
